Your public health insurance covers the following preventive medical checkups.
- From age 18: Professional dental cleaning. Public health insurance offers a susidy and you pay the rest. Experts recommend getting supplementary dental insurance if you have dental problems or once you turn 35.

- From age 35: General health check-up at the general practitioner’s (Hausartz). You can do it every three years. The check-up includes a one-time screening for hepatitis B and C.
- From age 35: Skin cancer screening (early detection) every two years.
You get further gender-specific medical examinations (G-BA).
