Our Mission

GermanPedia’s goal is to serve expats in Germany with clear, accurate, and trustworthy information. We want to educate expats about their rights, German culture, and practical tips to make decisions confidently.

Core Principles

Independence

  • GermanPedia operates independently from commercial interests, advertisers, or sponsors.
  • Editorial decisions are made solely by our team, based on relevance, accuracy, and usefulness to our readers.
  • Partnerships or affiliate links never influence the substance of our reporting or reviews.

Accuracy and Research

  • Every article undergoes in-depth research. We refer to multiple sources before finalizing a guide. We have divided the sources into three categories. Information from Tier 1 sources supercedes information from other Tier sources. Information from Tier 2 supercedes information from Tier 3 sources.
    • Tier 1: Official German sources (such as Destatis, German Law Book, etc.)
    • Tier 2: Sources that work independently of any affiliations (such as PKV.de, IHK, etc.)
    • Tier 3: Independent blogs and news agencies that are trusted by mass (such as Finanztip, Tageschau, etc.)
  • We consult official documents, government publications, court rulings, and regulatory texts whenever applicable.
  • When citing statistics or ratings, we rely on independent, verifiable sources such as recognized rating agencies, government authorities, and professional institutions.
  • Our editors fact-check each piece before publication to ensure correctness.

Expertise and Authority

  • We partner with certified professionals, such as lawyers, tax advisors, real estate experts, doctors, and financial consultants, to ensure our content is accurate, credible, and reflects industry best practices.
  • Expert contributions are clearly attributed, and where necessary, reviewed by peers in the same field.

Product and Service Reviews

  • Reviews are based on first-hand testing whenever possible.
  • If hands-on testing is not feasible, we rely on independent rating agencies (Morgen & Morgen, DISQ, Franke Bornberg, etc.) evaluations and expert analysis, disclosing our methods transparently.
  • Ratings are supported by data, user experience, and comparisons with industry benchmarks.
  • We disclose any affiliate partnerships, sponsorships, or benefits received in connection with a review. All affiliate links are clearly marked with an asterisk “*”.

Transparency

  • We attribute all the sources and provide direct links to official references, legal citations, or court cases where relevant.
  • Our editorial team clearly labels the sponsored content.

Updates and Revisions

  • GermanPedia is committed to maintaining up-to-date information.
  • We regularly review and update the articles to reflect changes in German law, regulation, or market conditions.
  • We timestamp important figures, values, and information so readers can trust they are accessing the most current version.

Editorial Standards

  • Language is clear, accessible, and jargon-free, respecting that many of our readers are non-native German speakers.
  • We avoid unnecessary complexity while maintaining precision in legal and financial matters.
  • We write and structure the content so that users can take action immediately.

Reader Trust

  • We encourage feedback from our readers to identify areas that may require clarification or improvement. Readers can leave feedback in two ways.
    • By submitting a short feedback form at the bottom of each guide.
    • By sending us an email at “contact[at]germanpedia.com“.
  • We issue corrections promptly and transparently when we identify errors.

Correction Policy

At GermanPedia, we take accuracy seriously. Our readers trust us to provide correct and reliable information, and we are committed to maintaining that trust.

  • Prompt Corrections: If we discover an error—whether factual, typographical, or contextual—we correct it as quickly as possible.
  • Reader Feedback: We actively encourage our readers to point out possible errors or outdated information.
  • Continuous Review: In addition to fixing reported mistakes, our editorial team regularly reviews published content to ensure it reflects the most current laws, regulations, and market conditions.
