Berlin, Germany – November 26, 2025 – In a charged session of the German Bundestag, Alice Weidel, co-leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, unleashed a scathing critique of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s CDU-SPD coalition government. Speaking for approximately 21 minutes, Weidel accused the administration of exacerbating five major crises plaguing the nation.

She urged a potential alliance between the Union (CDU/CSU) and AfD to implement sweeping changes. Her address, delivered amid applause from AfD benches and jeers from coalition members, highlighted deep divisions in German politics ahead of upcoming state elections.

Weidel framed her speech as an “urgent call for national unity.” She argued that the current government’s policies are leading Germany toward economic and social ruin. She detailed the five crises in stark terms, painting a picture of a country on the brink of collapse due to failed policies.

The Five Crises Outlined by Weidel

  1. Social Welfare Overload: Weidel described Germany’s social welfare system as “on the brink of collapse,” overwhelmed by non-contributors while hardworking Germans suffer. She cited millions of recipients under programs like Hartz IV (now citizen’s income), with projections of an additional 2 million by 2027 costing €50 billion annually. Pensioners’ savings are eroded by inflation, she argued, as billions are diverted to those who “have never worked here,” labeling it “theft from the working class.”
  2. Uncontrolled Mass Migration: Pointing to over 1.2 million illegal entries and 800,000 asylum claims in 2025 alone, Weidel claimed cities like Berlin and Munich are overwhelmed. She criticized the EU migration pact as a “farce” that imposes unwanted quotas. She slammed low deportation rates under Merz.
  3. Industrial Decline: Weidel warned of “deindustrialization at full speed,” with major companies like BASF, Volkswagen, and Siemens shedding 300,000 jobs since 2023 and production down 15%. She blamed excessive bureaucracy, high energy costs, and the “green dogma” for this.
  4. Energy Shortages: Weidel labeled the shutdown of nuclear plants in 2023 as “criminal”. She highlighted that household energy prices are €0.40 per kWh, while factories pay double. She predicted winter blackouts due to an overloaded grid. She insisted on nuclear power as the “safe, clean” solution.
  5. Ballooning National Debt: With €3 trillion in debt rising €200 billion yearly, Weidel accused the coalition of a €60 billion deficit hidden through “off-books tricks.” Interest payments could reach €80 billion by 2026, exceeding defense spending, while inflation at 7% devalues savings. She portrayed this as “intergenerational theft”.

AfD’s 12-Point Immediate Reform Plan

Weidel presented the AfD’s “emergency program”—a 12-point plan. She claims that the plan can be

  • implemented immediately with Union support,
  • it can save €150 billion annually,
  • boost GDP growth to 3%, and
  • restore sovereignty.

Here is what the 12-point reform plan looks like.

  1. Border Closure: Reintroduce immediate border controls, turn back all illegal entrants, and deploy the Bundeswehr if necessary.
  2. Mass Deportations: Organize charter flights to deport 500,000 failed asylum seekers and criminal foreigners annually, with no exceptions.
  3. End Energiewende: Halt all new subsidies for wind and solar, and restart nuclear plants within 12 months.
  4. Flat Tax Revolution: Implement a 25% flat income tax and abolish inheritance and wealth taxes to stimulate capital investment.
  5. Bureaucracy Purge: Eliminate 50% of EU-derived regulations and digitalize administration to cut costs by €30 billion.
  6. Pension Protection: Raise the retirement age to 67, index pensions to wages, and avoid cuts for current retirees.
  7. Migrant Benefits Cap: Restrict social aid to Germans and long-term residents, requiring five years of contributions.
  8. Education Overhaul: Prioritize German-language teaching, eliminate “woke” curricula, and focus on STEM and trades.
  9. Family Support: Provide €500/month child allowance and tax breaks for marriage and birth, but only for German families.
  10. Defense Boost: Allocate 3% of GDP to the military and introduce conscription for all 18-year-olds (men and women).
  11. EU Renegotiation: Opt out of migration and green pacts, and veto further financial transfers to Brussels.
  12. Corruption Clean-Up: Impose lifetime bans on lobbyists in government and ensure transparency in coalition deals.

Weidel asserted that this blueprint would revive “Made in Germany” pride and protect the nation’s workers and families.
